Since returning to Asia a few years ago, Bali has become one of my favourite holiday destinations. If you’re planning a trip to Bali and wondering where to eat – check out some of eateries below:
1. Nusantara by Locavore (Ubud)
Tucked in Ubud, Nusantara dishes up authentic Indonesian cooking from across the islands – think banana leaf-wrapped pork and unusual treats like snake fruit sambal. The casual bamboo-screened space feels homey, and their herb-packed cocktails are the perfect match for exploring flavors you probably haven’t tried before.

2. Bebek Tepi Sewah (All over Bali)
The duck at Bebek Tepi Sawah Ubud is really delicious—perfectly crispy outside with tender, flavorful meat that’s definitely worth trying, especially with their tasty homemade sambals and aromatic Balinese-spiced veggies.

3. Warung Babi Guling Pak Malen (Seminyak)
Skip the fancy restaurants and join locals at Warung Babi Guling Pak Malen in Seminyak – their 45k rupiah suckling pig plate is the real deal with impossibly crispy skin, juicy meat and all the traditional sides. Perfect spot to try authentic Balinese food without blowing your budget.

4. Naughty Nuri’s (Sanur, Seminyak, Ubud)
Don’t miss Naughty Nuri’s—their sticky, smoky pork ribs with that perfect blend of BBQ seasoning and Balinese spices are legendary, as are their potent martinis (even Anthony Bourdain called them “the best in the world”!).

5. Kaum (Seminyak)
If you’re tired of the same old Bali eats, hit up Kaum in Seminyak where they’ve actually gone island-hopping to collect super authentic recipes most tourists never get to try. The bamboo-grilled meat is killer, they ferment stuff in-house, and their cocktails hang out in clay pots for like a month before serving. Definitely snag a sunset table and go wild with their sambal selection.

6. Massimo Gelato (Sanur)
If you’re wandering around Bali and need something sweet, head to Massimo Gelato – they’ve been making authentic Italian gelato since 1996 using only natural ingredients. Their flavors run from classic chocolate mint to a bright blue Smurf option that’s pretty popular with the kids. Nice little spot for a cool treat when the island heat gets a bit much.
(No photo for this one because I can’t for the life of me find one, but trust me it looks good!)
